§ Mr. G. Elfed Daviesasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will list the municipally-owned airports in the United Kingdom and the amounts paid by each, in each of the last five years for meteorological reading services.
§ Mr. William RodgersThere are 33 aerodromes owned by local authorities, of which 23 are operated by the authorities themselves. With few exceptions those authorities provide the aerodrome navigation services and in recognition of this no charge is at present made for meteorological services. At Glamorgan the Board of Trade provide the navigation services and the authorities agreed at the time that they acquired the ownership of the airport to make a contribution to the net operating losses of which meteorological costs are part. The gross contribution made in respect of the latter element averages about £9,000 a year.
