Mr. Edward M. Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many prosecutions have been made under Section 30 of the Ministry of Social Security Act, 1966, since that Act became law.
§ Mr. PentlandThe Ministry of Social Security Act came into effect on 28th November, 1966, and since then proceedings have been taken both under Section 30 and also under the similar provisions of Section 51 of the National Assistance Act, 1948, in respect of outstanding warrants. Under these provisions proceedings were taken against 811 persons in 1967 and 563 persons in 1968 up to 30th September, 1968.
