§ 64. Dr. John Dunwoodyasked the Minister of Transport what additional measures he intends taking this year to prevent congestion and excessive delays on trunk roads serving tourist areas at bank holiday weekends.
§ Mr. MarshThis is a matter for local arrangement by the police, with such assistance as the motoring organisations can give, and in consultation with the highway authorities concerned. Alternative routes are signposted where appropriate and, within the limits of their resources, the police plan for the control of traffic and organise peak controls for the relief of congestion, particularly in tourist areas at bank holiday weekends.
