HC Deb 08 April 1968 vol 762 c189W
69. Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will issue an instruction varying the regulations which require members of the Metropolitan Police on outside duty to wear great coats or raincoats until 31st March, so that they may have discretion to discard these on warm days.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

Local supervising officers already exercise discretion to allow departures from the requirements of Metropolitan Police General Orders in matters of this kind.
