HC Deb 08 April 1968 vol 762 c189W
71. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why Mr. Nii, a survivor of Hiroshima, was detained overnight on his arrival at Dover, and refused a three-months stay in Great Britain; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ennals

Mr. Nii did not have sufficient funds, or financial guarantees, for his projected stay of three months and subsequent journey to the United States; but, after examination, he was admitted for one month and it is open to him to apply for an extension of stay. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to him.
