HC Deb 03 April 1968 vol 762 cc81-2W
29. Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what further recommendations he has received from the Advisory Committee on Pesticides about the risks arising from certain persistent organochlorine pesticides; if he is aware of the growing concern about the delay in checking the damage to wild life and the indirect threat to human life; and if he will introduce legislation in this Session to restrict the use of such pesticides.

Mr. Hoy

The Committee is still reviewing the use of these chemicals. I have no evidence that the voluntary restrictions introduced after the 1964 review have not proved effective in reducing the contamination of the environment and the possible danger to wild life and to human health, or that there is growing concern on this subject. I see no need to introduce legislation this Session.
