§ LORD BARNBY
asked Her Majesty's Government:
- " (a) What is the amount of payments under all headings made to Zambia during the current financial year or during the 1967 calendar year;
- (b) What is the current commitment for annual subvention to Botswana, and what proportion does such represent of the total national revenue."
§ LORD SHEPHERD
Payments made by Her Majesty's Government to or on behalf of Zambia in the calendar year 1967 totalled £16.68 million.
Our current commitment to Botswana covers the three years 1967–68 to 1969–70 and includes £13 million of financial aid, plus substantial technical assistance. Direct aid payments in the current financial year, including payments under the Overseas Service Aid Scheme, are expected to total £4.72 million, representing 55 per cent. of Botswana's recurrent and development revenues for that year.1220WA
