asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will seek to amend the law to allow the prosecution of those who purchase a car temporarily imported to this country, but who subsequently resell it before discovery by his officers.

No. A person who knowingly deals in goods on which duty has not been paid may be prosecuted as the law now stands.
