HC Deb 01 April 1968 vol 762 c36W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government, in view of the widespread flooding in Carlisle and district, if he will seek to make an extra statutory grant to those industries and persons who have suffered as a result of this disaster.

Mr. Skeffington

My right hon. Friend has received no request for emergency assistance and has no reason to think that circumstances warrant it. The City Corporation have acted vigorously to deal with the effects of the flooding and to mitigate immediate hardship, and difficulties are being resolved fairly quickly.
