§ Mr. S. O. Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give an assurance that in his Department's forthcoming programmes, priority will be given to the reduction of the high and long-term unemployment in Wales over any schemes for local government reorganisation.
§ Mrs. WhiteThere is no question of a choice between the two. Tackling the unemployment problem is a first priority for all the Welsh Departments concerned with economic planning, labour and trade. Strengthening the units of local government will in no way conflict with this.
