§ 52. Sir Clive Bossomasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many dogs were in quarantine during 1966–67; and how many of these dogs developed rabies whilst under observation.
§ Mr. John MackieDuring 1966, 3,365 dogs passed through quarantine. In the first ten months of 1967 about 3,200 dogs have been placed in quarantine. None developed rabies whilst in quarantine.
§ 53. Sir Clive Bossomasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will now take steps to reduce the period of quarantine for cats and dogs from six months to three months.
§ Mr. John MackieNo. The present arrangements have kept the country free from rabies for 40 years and should be maintained.
