§ Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the foreign exchange cost of imported tobacco an 1965; and what estimate he has made of the corresponding figure for 1967 and 1968, respectively, all expressed in sterling.
§ Mr. DarlingI have been asked to reply. This information is not available. The value of imports as recorded in the Overseas Trade Accounts is not a good measure of their foreign exchange cost because, for instance, it includes insurance and freight costs which may not involve the expenditure of foreign exchange.
