§ 59. Mr. Costain
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will amend the terms under which pensions are paid to retired civil servants so as to give protection against liability to forfeit a pension should a pensioner be imprisoned for an indictable offence, in particular, for an offence under the Road Safety Act.
§ Mr. Diamond
No amendment is necessary. A pensioner imprisoned for an offence under the Road Safety Act unconnected with his official duties before retirement does not forfeit his pension.
