asked the Minister of Transport what representations she has received from individuals and organisations in Scotland regarding her proposal to limit private road hauliers to a 100-mile radius.

My proposal is to require all road hauliers carrying goods for more than 100 miles between any two points in lorries over 16 tons gross weight to apply for a licence. I have received several representations from individuals and organisations in Scotland on this proposal and I shall be publishing my conclusions in the White Paper on the Transport of Freight tomorrow.
