HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 c108W
67. Sir H. Legge-Bourke

asked the Minister of Transport why the number of road vehicles used by Government Departments rose substantially in the period January to July, 1967, and were more in July, 1967 than in July, 1966, whereas the total registrations for the country fell by 100,000 between January and July, and were 3,000 fewer in July, 1967 than they were in July, 1966.

Mr. Carmichael

The number of vehicles for Government use rose mainly because more new goods vehicles for the Post Office were registered this year, whereas total registrations fell mainly because fewer new private cars were purchased.
