§ Mr. Onslowasked the Minister of Overseas Development what has been the total value of United Kingdom aid to Kenya since 1964; and what total is now planned for the period up to 1970.
§ Mr. PrenticeDisbursement of aid to Kenya in the three years 1964 to 1966, excluding aid to the East African Common Services Organisation, amounted to £45 million.
As my predecessor informed my right hon. Friend the Member for Derby, South (Mr. Philip Noel-Baker) on 16th November, 1965, financial aid has been made available to the Kenya Government which is expected to lead to disbursements of £18 million during the four-year period beginning in April, 1966. Of this, £0.9 million has so far been disbursed. It is not possible to forecast investment by the Commonwealth Development Corporation or the cost of technical assistance, but the latter is at present running at the rate of about £4 million per annum.
