asked the Minister of Transport whether she intends to place the proposed increase in rail fares in the Liverpool area, namely, Orrell Park, etc., to Liverpool Exchange, before the National Board for Prices and Incomes; and if she will make a statement.

Mrs. Castle

The recent changes in certain rail fares in the Liverpool Area involve the raising of some sub-standard day return fares to bring them up to the level in force elsewhere. I see no case for referring to the National Board for Prices and Incomes, local adjustments of this kind.
