§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesThe erection of traffic signs on any road is the responsibility of the highway authority for that road. Where, in response to demand, a highway authority wishes to erect bilingual informatory signs, other than directional signs, I am prepared to consider authorising the use of such signs under the Traffic Signs Regulations. In considering applications for such authorisation I shall take into account the recommendations of the Worboys Report, particularly those having a bearing on road safety.
