Mr. Beaney

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will list the local authorities which have decided to levy rates on empty property in the financial year 1968–69.

Local authorities have until March, 1968 to resolve to rate unoccupied property in their areas in 1968–69. The following have already done so:

County Boroughs Bournemouth; Coventry; Eastbourne; Exeter.

London Boroughs Hounslow; Newham; Waltham Forest.

Non-County Boroughs and Urban Districts Alsager; Ashby de la Zouch; Barry; Beaumaris; Cannock; Chepstow; Clay Cross; Coalville; Crawley; Eccles; Halstead; Heanor; Hitchin; Hornsea; Horsham; Keighley; Letchworth; Llandovery; Llandidloes; Loughborough; Maesteg; Maidstone; Melksham Melton Mowbray; Neath; Newcastle under Lyme; Petersfield; Portland; Potters Bar; Ramsgate; Royston; St. Albans; Shoreham by Sea; Stevenage; Tamworth; Taunton; Todmorden Tonbridge; Tring; Tunbridge Wells; Watford; Wellington; Wisbech.
