§ Dr. John Dunwoodyasked the Minister of Labour what proportion of employees in each of the development areas qualified in 1966–67 for Selective Employment Tax premiums and refunds; what proportion were employed in the service industries; and what were these 21W proportions for those parts of Great Britain outside the development areas.
§ Mr. HattersleyI estimate that those employed in establishments in respect of which S.E.T. premiums are payable are about 34 per cent. of the employed population in Scotland; about 36 per cent. in the Northern Development Area; about 39 per cent. in the Merseyside Development Area; about 30 per cent. in Wales; about 19 per cent. in the South Western Development Area; and about 38 per cent. in the parts of Great Britain outside the Development Areas. These figures are very approximate. I regret that comparable figures are not available
