§ 34. Mr. Dickensasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the size of the British Armed Forces stationed in the United Kingdom, following reductions made overseas.
§ Mr. HealeyOn 1st April, 1967, there were 245,000 Regular personnel of the2W three Services stationed in the United Kingdom compared with a total of 230,000 at the end of 1965. The increase is largely the consequence of redeployment from overseas. It is some indication of our success in achieving the relief of overstretch, which was one of the major aims of the Defence Review.
