§ Mr. MellishConsultations with elected representatives, which will be held shortly, derive from paragraph 41 of the White Paper on The Housing Programme 1965 to 1970 (Cmnd. 2838). This stated the Government's approach to local authority rent policies and promised consultations with the local authorities on these and other matters consultations at official level have already taken place.
§ Mr. Brooksasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he expects to be able to give advice to local authorities on rent rebate schemes.
§ Mrs. Lena Jegerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what advice he is giving to local housing authorities in respect of the preparation of rent rebate schemes; and whether he is suggesting that family allowances be disregarded in these calculations.
§ Mr. MellishMy right hon. Friend is consulting the local authority associations196W on this matter and, subject to the outcome of those discussions, he hopes to be able to issue a circular to local authorities within a matter of weeks.
