§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he will announce a decision in principle by the British Government to support the construction of a 300 Gev proton accelerator on a European co-operative basis; and if he will make a statement on the specified share of the cost to be borne by the British Government.
§ Mr. CroslandOn the present C.E.R.N. timetable decisions will not be required by member States until the C.E.R.N. Council meeting in December. Meanwhile the proposals are being carefully studied and the Government will take their decision in the light of a full examination of the scientific, technological and economic considerations. It is not possible at this stage to make any statement on the share of the cost which would fall to this country.
