HC Deb 02 May 1967 vol 746 c26W
29. Mr. John Lee

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs if he will set a target date for the completion of the overthrow by means of sanctions of the illegal régime in Rhodesia.

Mr. Bowden

No.

Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs how many South Africans have enlisted in the Rhodesian armed forces since the Unilateral Declaration of Independence; and how many of these were previously in the South African armed forces.

Mr. George Thomas

No figures are available, but I have no reason to think that this has happened to any significant extent.

Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs what part Her Majesty's Government has played in the division of the Rhodesia-Zambia railway system; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Bowden

Rhodesia Railways has not been divided, but the Zambian Government announced on 23rd March that talks between Zambian and Rhodesian officials relating to the dissolution of the Railways had commenced. Her Majesty's Government has played no part in these talks.
