HC Deb 02 May 1967 vol 746 cc57-8W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many animals and birds imported into Great Britain in the past year died in transit; and whether he will take steps to regulate their travelling conditions through the International Air Travel Association or by legislation.

Mr. J. P. W. Mallalieu

I regret that these figures are not available. The International Air Transport Association, partly at the prompting of my Department, has already set up a special study group to examine in detail the problem of the carriage of live animals by air. When the findings of this group are available, I will consider what further action, if any, need be taken.
