§ Mr. CallaghanThe responsibility for giving such permission rests with the Minister in charge of the Department in which the official was serving before his resignation or retirement, although in certain cases the Treasury is consulted. During the last year five cases relating to senior Civil Servants have been referred to the Treasury; in all of them the departmental Minister concerned subsequently gave his permission.
