Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the President of the Board of Trade what assistance he gave to the firm of Plessey and Company Limited to reach its five-year agreement with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; and to what extent he estimates that this will increase British trade with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
§ Mr. JayThe company consulted me about its proposals, which I was glad to be able to endorse. I welcome the initiative it showed in negotiating this agreement and I hope substantial business for it will follow. It is not, however, for me to estimate the amount of business which may result.
