Mr. Maurice Macmillanasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will publish details of the methods used to calculate the trade gap in balance of payments terms from the recorded figures provided by the Customs and Excise, distinguishing between the seasonal and any other adjustments made.

Methods of seasonal adjustment of the trade figures were described in detail in the Board of Trade Journal of 6th November, 1959.
