§ Sir R. Russellasked the Postmaster-General what plans he has to reduce the charges for international telephone calls as the traffic grows.
§ Mr. Edward ShortCharges for international telephone calls are fixed by agreement with the other administrations concerned and are reviewed at frequent intervals. I am not able to say what changes will be made in the future but I am hopeful that continued improvements in traffic handling techniques as well as reductions in cost due to the growth in traffic will, at least, keep pace with any general increases in the world costs of labour and materials.
