§ 67. Dame Irene Wardasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what information he now has about the British ships trapped in the Bitter Lake and the passengers and crews involved.
§ Mr. George ThomsonThe four British ships whose names my hon. Friend gave the House on 19th June are still in the Great Bitter Lake. All passengers have been taken off with the exception of the wife of a member of the crew of one ship, who wished to stay. Arrangements have been made for sufficient crew to remain on board the vessels to sail them 333W to a port. The remainder of the crews have been evacuated from Cairo by air this morning.—[Vol. 748, c. 179.]
