§ Mr. Fortescueasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what requests he has received from the Government of Jordan for aid to help in overcoming their 123W present economic and social difficulties; and, in view of Jordan's close ties with this country, if he will give an assurance that these requests will be given sympathetic consideration.
§ Mr. George ThomsonWe have been informed by the Jordan Government that medical supplies, clothing, blankets, tents and canned food are urgently required for the refugees who have now arrived in the East Bank. I informed the House on 13th June of the immediate steps being taken by the Government to meet these requirements: we are actively considering what more can be done to alleviate Jordan's present difficulties.—[Vol. 748, c. 318.]
