§ Mr. CroslandNo. I am advised by the Council for Scientific Policy on the apportionment of the Vote for Civil Science among the main areas of scientific research. The detailed allocation of funds is a matter for the judgment of the in dividual Research Councils. As the main Governmental agency responsible for medical research, the Medical Research Council is already supporting an extensive programme of research on cancer and I am confident that it will seek to maintain an appropriate level of expenditure on this, as well as other subjects, in the biomedical field.
