HC Deb 26 July 1967 vol 751 cc168-9W
Mr. Edward Lyons

asked the Attorney-General whether he will make a statement on the operation of Section 41 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1925, under which it is an offence for any person to take a photograph in the precincts of a court of any person who is a witness in or a party to court proceedings.

The Attorney-General

Section 41 is still in force and part of the Criminal law. Its purpose is to protect those required to attend court proceedings, to prevent interference with the administration of justice, and to uphold the dignity of the Court. I am grateful to my hon. Friend for enabling attention to be drawn to this Section.
