§ 43. Mr. Hordernasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what proposals he now has to transfer the commercial and industrial assets of the New Towns Commission to the appropriate local authorities.
§ 44. Mr. Moonmanasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will now make a further statement on the proposal to transfer new town assets to the local authorities.
§ Mr. MellishThe Government have made clear their intention to take powers to wind up the Commission for the New Towns.
We shall decide in due course, in consultation with all the interests concerned, on the best way to deal with all the problems involved in the disposal of new town assets.
We have already said that the local housing authorities should eventually become responsible for the management of all publicly-owned housing. Industrial and commercial assets raise complex and difficult issues which need careful examination.
