§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the French Government officially opposes the entry of Great Britain to the European Economic Community because of sterling's position as an international currency and has now proposed that the sterling balances should be funded; and if he will now take steps to do this and 310W to wind up the reserve functions of sterling, and advise the French Government accordingly.
