Mr. Moonmanasked the Minister of Labour whether he is introducing any techniques to assess the number of people redeployed as a result of Selective Employment Tax; if he will provide as a preliminary step indications of any regional or local movements; and what inquiries he has made to tackle the problem of obtaining such information.
§ Mr. HattersleyIt is not practicable to measure redeployment resulting from the Selective Employment Tax as it occurs. The effects of the tax will be assessed by the application of normal statistical techniques to information which the Government already collects.
