§ 64. Mr. Macdonaldasked the Minister of Labour what progress has been made in the inquiry into the building industry towards putting an end to the practice of bogus self-employment, particularly among draughtsmen and building workers.
§ Mr. GunterThe Phelps Brown Committee is inquiring into labour-only subcontracting in its different forms in the context of the wider labour problems of the construction industry. In view of the complexity of the subject and the need for research, the Committee does not expect to report before 1968.
§ 68. Mr. Spriggsasked the Minister of Labour if he will hold an inquiry into the employment of casual labour on building sites; and if he will issue a report.
§ Mr. GunterThe Phelps Brown Committee, appointed earlier this year by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Public Building and Works and myself, is considering this among other labour problems in the construction industry; the Committee's report will be published in due course.
