HC Deb 04 July 1967 vol 749 c213W
55. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Minister for Technology what answer he has sent to the letter from the representative of marine engineering on the Shipbuilders and Shiprepairers Council as to the advisability of requiring shipowners taking advantage of the Shipbuilding Industry Bill to include in their specifications engines produced in Great Britain.

Mr. Benn

I have had a letter from Mr. Storey, Chairman of the National Association of Marine Enginebuilders, and I have told him that under Clause 7 of the Shipbuilding Industry Act a procedure is being applied to ensure that the interests of competitive supplying industries in the country are not harmed.
