§ 21. Mr. John Wellsasked the Minister of Social Security if she will take steps to make Sundays and Saturdays count as waiting days for unemployment benefit in industries or sections of industries which are working a continuous process on a four-shift basis, as at present worked in the paper industry.
§ Miss HerbisonWaiting days for unemployment benefit are the first three days for which benefit conditions are satisfied. Provision is already made to enable Saturdays and Sundays to count for this purpose in certain circumstances but they vary considerably. I will gladly look into any particular case the hon. Member may have in mind.
