§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister (1) whether, in the light of an Estimates Committee Report, drawing attention to the fact that the Government services have only two-thirds of the statisticians needed, he will consider what practical steps can be taken to increase the number of statisticians in the Government service;
157W(2) what action he proposes to take to accelerate and increase research on forecasting methods and data in the Government service;
(3) if he will set up an inquiry into the availability of statistical information in Government.
§ The Prime MinisterThe recommendations on Government statistical services in the Estimates Committee Report are under consideration, and a statement about them will be made to the House as soon as possible.
