§ Mr. PrenticeNine contracts have been let for new schemes designed in Portland Stone. In addition, this material is often specified for particular features in other new buildings. Large amounts are also used in maintenance, including 9,000 tons of low-grade stone annually to reinforce the breakwater in Portland Harbour.
