Mr. Dribergasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much money has been paid so far in compensation to victims of crime; how many persons have received such compensation; and if he will consider extending this scheme so that, in appropriate cases, those guilty of the crimes can contribute to the compensation and thus make some restitution to those whom they have wronged.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsUp to the end of January 1967 awards totalling £1,180,417 were made by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board to 3,386 victims.
