48. Mr. Fowler

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is yet able to make an announcement about the compensation which will be paid to tenant farmers dispossessed in consequence of schemes under the New Towns Act.

Mr. Body

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is aware of the injustices caused to tenant farmers when their land is made the subject of a compulsory purchase order; and whether he will introduce legislation to enable them to receive fair compensation.

Mr. Peart

I hope to make a statement very soon on compensation for tenant farmers.
