HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 cc97-8W
60. Mr. Lipton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give an assurance that the Fisheries Act 1964 will not be modified as a condition of entry into the Common Market.

Mr. Hoy

As my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has explained it would not be in the national interest to define publicly the position we might adopt in any negotiations for British entry into the European Economic Community. The Community has not yet adopted a common fisheries policy.
