HC Deb 02 February 1967 vol 740 c158W
72. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many consultants have been appointed for an engineering study to assess the practicability and cost of the Solway Barrage project; and what part is played in such investigations by the university of Strathclyde.

Mr. Ross

My hon. Friend will be aware that reports on the desk studies of both the Solway Firth and Morecambe Bay barrage schemes were published on 26th January. The study on the Solway Firth project was carried out by a firm of consulting engineers, Babtie, Shaw & Morton of Glasgow. The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Strathclyde provided specialist advice and assistance in the establishment and observation of temporary tide gauges.
