HC Deb 02 February 1967 vol 740 c170W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the President of the Board of Trade if the Monopolies Commission, in its investigation of alleged restrictive practices in the professions which are contrary to the public interest, will consider the professions in Scotland and in particular Scottish conveyancing practices.

Mr. Dewar

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the separate professional structure established in many fields in Scotland and the distinct Scottish conveyancing system, he will ensure that the Monopolies Commission inquiry into professional services will not be confined to England and Wales but will also deal with the situation as it presently exists in Scotland.

Mr. Jay

The investigation will embrace the whole United Kingdom, but practices expressly authorised by Statute or Royal Charter will be excluded.
