HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c496W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will publish the information available to him and the representations he has received relating to the preservation of the Old House, Shenfield Road, Brentwood, details of which have been sent to him.

Mr. MacDermot:

The Old House is a listed building of special architectural interest. Representations have been received from the Brentwood Urban District Council, the Ancient Monuments Society and the Georgian Group that it should be preserved.

The building is Crown property and there is no intention to demolish it or make any alteration which would seriously affect its character. If this were ever proposed, there would be full consultations with the Department and the local authorities before a decision was reached.
