HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c468W
Sir G. Sinclair

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what progress has been made with the proposals for Commonwealth co-operation in market development and export promotion, which were studied at the meeting of senior officials of Commonwealth countries at Nairobi in May, 1967.

Mr. Prentice:

The Report of the Nairobi Conference recommended an expert study of the proposals for a Commonwealth initiative in trade promotion, and studies as to how this recommendation can be implemented are now in hand between the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Governments concerned.

Sir G. Sinclair

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what action he intends to take as a result of the report produced on planning by the Commonwealth Secretariat as a result of the discussions held by senior officials of Commonwealth countries in Nairobi.

Mr. Prentice:

An analytical report on planning techniques and problems of plan implementation, which is to incorporate the points made in the discussions on planning at the Nairobi Conference, is in course of preparation by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
