HC Deb 20 December 1967 vol 756 cc454-5W
Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs, in view of the fact that in recent months an authoritarian form of Government has arisen in the State of St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla, what steps Her Majesty's Government will take regarding the continued economic subsidy to this State and Her Majesty's Government's responsibility for its overseas representation.

Mr. George Thomas:

Our aid to St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla is related to the economic and social needs of the State as a whole and we shall of course continue to keep this under review in the light of all relevant considerations.

The West Indies Act, 1967, lays the responsibility for the external affairs of the State on Her Majesty's Government. We shall continue therefore to discharge this responsibility.
