§ 49. Mr. Dobsonasked the Minister of Transport what recent progress has been made by her Department in discussing with car manufacturers the need to improve the safety factors in car design.
§ Mr. Carmichael:At my right hon. Friend's request the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders are preparing an assessment of safety features for application to the whole range of passenger cars. The Society is keeping us informed about their progress so that we can take their views into account in the development of the vehicle safety programme.
